Comprehensive Dental Exam

What to expect

At Drangsholt Dental, we believe that a healthy smile starts with a thorough understanding of your oral health. Our comprehensive dental exams are designed to provide you with a complete picture of your dental well-being, ensuring that you and Dr. Connor can work together to achieve your health goals.

What is a Comprehensive Dental Exam?

Our comprehensive dental exam includes a review of your medical history, digital x-rays, intraoral photographs of your teeth, a detailed oral health evaluation including a gum health evaluation and oral cancer screening. Dr. Connor will assess your bite, jaw alignment, and any potential sleep breathing abnormalities. Dr. Connor takes the time to thoroughly discuss any treatment needs.

Will I get a cleaning at my Comprehensive Dental Exam?

In order to provide the highest quality care, we have found that it’s best to have your first comprehensive dental exam and dental cleaning at different appointments. This allows us adequate time to discuss any treatment needs and review photos together while also allowing for a non-rushed cleaning to properly rid of any plaque and calculus. At this initial appointment we diagnose and discuss what type of dental cleaning you may need.

What happens at my dental cleaning?

Our incredible dental hygienists will ensure you have a thorough dental cleaning completed. The purpose of a dental cleaning is to clean the teeth and gumline from any plaque and calculus that accumulates in between the teeth over time. Plaque and calculus collecting around the teeth and underneath the gums can cause a cascade of dental problems like cavities, gingivitis, bone loss around the teeth, bad breath, infections, and eventually tooth loss. Routine cleanings rid the mouth of harmful bacteria that you can’t rid yourself at home. Regular cleanings are the best way to prevent any potential dental work from arising.

How often do I need to have my teeth cleaned?

All individuals should receive regular dental exams and cleanings. Most individuals should schedule appointments every six months for ideal dental hygiene. Others may require dental cleanings every 3-4 months to keep all harmful bacteria away. At your comprehensive exam we will discuss which regimen you need to maintain a healthy smile.
