Cosmetic Bonding Explained
Cosmetic bonding is a fast, affordable way to repair and improve the appearance of teeth using a tooth-colored composite resin. The same material used for tooth-colored fillings is applied to the tooth, shaped, and polished to blend in naturally. At Drangsholt Dental, bonding is used to fix chips and cracks, close small gaps, reshape uneven teeth, cover discoloration, and make teeth look longer or more even.
One of the biggest advantages of bonding is how conservative and convenient it is. Unlike veneers or crowns, bonding usually requires little or no removal of natural tooth enamel, and most cases can be completed in a single visit without anesthesia. The dentist applies the resin in layers, sculpts it to the right shape, and hardens it with a curing light, then trims and polishes it to match the surrounding teeth.
Bonding is an excellent option for minor cosmetic concerns and for patients who want noticeable improvement without a large investment. It is important to know that composite resin is not as strong or stain-resistant as porcelain, so bonded teeth can chip or discolor over time. With good care, bonding typically lasts about 5 to 10 years before it needs to be touched up or replaced.

How Treatment Works
01
Match
We choose a composite resin shade that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth so the result looks completely natural.
02
Prepare
The tooth surface is lightly conditioned to help the resin bond. In most cases, little or no enamel is removed and no anesthesia is needed.
03
Sculpt
The dentist applies the resin in layers and sculpts it into the desired shape, then hardens each layer with a curing light.
04
Polish
The bonded tooth is trimmed and polished to a smooth, natural finish that matches the look and feel of your surrounding teeth.

Cosmetic Bonding Approach
At Drangsholt Dental, we use cosmetic bonding to deliver natural-looking results with minimal impact on your healthy tooth structure. We carefully select a resin shade that matches your natural teeth and shape the material with attention to detail so the repair is virtually invisible.
We will always talk through your options honestly. For small chips, gaps, and shape adjustments, bonding is often the ideal solution. For larger changes or the longest-lasting results, we may discuss veneers as an alternative. Our goal is to recommend the treatment that best fits your needs, your goals, and your budget.
